…do you ever buy any of this stuff? I mean either the stuff of late-night infomercials, or just from regular commercials?
Although I’m cynical about a lot of this stuff, a few of these items have found their way into my home. The most recent one was the Proactiv solution, the acne stuff. I’d seen the 30-minute infomercials, the ones with Vanessa Williams. But at the time, I thought it was too expensive.
Recently, they’ve been heavily running a 60-second ad for a $19.95 one-month trial package. Despite the presence of uber-bimbo Jessica Simpson, I decided that twenty bucks was affordable, and if the stuff really worked, it would be worth getting the regular shipments.
Yes, this stuff actually works…at least for me, it does. I’ve been using it for about a month now, and my skin has cleared up dramatically. So I’m going to keep getting the shipments every two months. My next one had better get here soon, because I’m almost out. It was shipped about a week ago, so any day now!

Another thing that I’d seen on TV that I get regular shipments of is Bare Escentuals makeup. The starter kit was a really good deal, it came with a bunch of product, a few brushes, and a how-to DVD. Getting the regular shipments every few months is cheaper than buying them at Sephora or any other makeup store. The fact that I DESPISE the Burlington Mall, where the nearest Sephora store is located, is another good reason to get the regular shipments. Anything that keeps me out of that awful place is good for me!
But then Kat was talking about Avon having their own line of mineral makeup, which is MUCH cheaper and is supposed to be as good as, maybe even better, than BE. And I wouldn’t have to deal with a pesky Avon lady who’d be up my ass to sell the stuff, I can just order online. No having to go to the mall for that, either. I’m thinking of ordering some of the Avon stuff and see how it compares. If it really is that good, and I can save some money, why not?

Speaking of saving money, have any of you ever gone to one of those directbuy showroom tours? You’ve probably seen the commercials…it’s a members-only thing where brand-name home stuff is offered at manufacturer-direct prices.
Many years ago, Mike went to one of these open house things with his ex-wife, back when they bought the house which she now lives in. They did join and got some nice stuff from them, all of which the ex took from him in the divorce. Maybe we’d go and check this out when we buy our own house, and see how much it can really save us. I know that when we do move, I want pretty much new everything eventually.

Finally, some advice for you scrapbookers out there…DON’T buy the Cricut machine from the infomercial! I got mine WAY cheaper on sale at Michaels, even with all of the extra stuff that comes with the TV offer, looking for a good sale is still cheaper.
But I like the infomercial, though…it’s given me some great ideas for using mine!
