Busy day tomorrow…
…so I won’t be staying up all night as I have been all week. If I can’t sleep, I can always just take a dose of NyQuil…not that I have a cold, but damn, that’s the only stuph that will make me sleep. I have OTC sleeping pills, but they never seem to work.
We’re taking a day trip up to Maine tomorrow. The primary purpose of the trip is to go to the L.L. Bean store in Freeport, so that Mike can finally get some new pants. He’s been bitching about his jeans being tight, because he’s put on some weight. The last time he bought jeans, he’d recently gotten out of the hospital, and had lost a lot of weight. Well, of course he would have, hospitals are too strict about caloric intake, they only allow a grown man enough calories to nourish a gnat.
Anyway, I was tired of hearing him bitch about the too-tight jeans, so I finally convinced him to just get new ones. He has to get them in Freeport, because the Bean store in Burlington, which is much closer, doesn’t carry all the sizes. And he does need to actually try them on, so ordering online isn’t an option. Besides, I like going up there. I love the store, plus we get to go to Gritty’s brewpub afterward.
On the way up, we’re stopping in Kittery to go to Yummies, a really cool candy and nut store. For some reason, we can’t find any white chocolate Easter bunnies in local stores, but we know that Yummies will have them for me. Also, Mike wants to pick up some nuts to much on. The quality of the nuts there is much better than that of supermarket nuts, and they are fresher, too.
Mike also wants to check out Cabela’s in Scarborough, just for the hell of it. Cabela’s is an outdoor store which is like L.L. Bean, he just wants to go there and look at guns and dead stuffed animals and all that crap. No big deal, we practically have to pass it on the way to Freeport, anyway.
We also need to go grocery shopping. At first, we were going to stop at the big Shaw’s in Saugus, but that might not be a good idea. Workers at the distribution center have been on stroke for weeks now, Shaw’s has announced plans to replace them with new, permanent workers. And now there is supposed to be picketing outside the various stores. I’d rather not cross any picket lines, even though I have mixed feelings about the strike. I feel for the striking workers, yes, but given the current economy, going on strike is a foolish move, when there are plenty of people out of work who will take the jobs with the current contract. It sucks, but the employer has the upper hand here.
I’m actually more afraid of harassment and possible personal injury if I cross any picket line. I’d rather just avoid it. Don’t want to have to shop for life insurance quotes before doing grocery shopping! We’ll stop at the Hannaford store in York on the way back, another place we drive right past, anyway. It’s actually a much nicer store, but obviously a bit to far to shop at on a regular basis. And they also have a decent selection of Maine microbrews.

I just got Daisy Martinez’ new cookbook from Amazon today; it looks really good. I’m going to bring it along and make a list while riding in the car, there are a few things I want to make from it this week. Also from The Good Post Office today was the Bare Escentuals I Love BE kit that I ordered a week ago from the Q. Very nice, more fun stuph to play with!

It’ll be chilly but sunny tomorrow, but still, a nice busy day!
