Another D'OH! moment…

August 23, 2007 By: User Imagechristine (Who am I?) Category: entertainment, just stuph Comments Off

More about commercials that are on daytime TV…there’s this other one, that comes on during the judge shows and Montel and stuff on Fox 25. It’s for Consolidated Credit something or other, and it features a good-looking, older actor. That actor always looked very familiar to me, but for the life of me, I could NEVER figure out exactly who he was. I knew he was supposed to be someone famous, someone I’d heard of and seen before. It was really starting to drive me nuts, especially since I’ve been spending too much time being sick and watching all of this crap TV in bed. I kept telling myself that when I did get up and go to the computer, to do a Google search to see if I could find out the name of that actor.

Today I finally remembered to do this, and I did find out who it was…Paul Michael Glaser, who played Starsky in the “Starsky & Hutch” TV series in the 70’s That was when I had my Homer Simpson moment. I used to LOVE to watch that show…mostly so I could drool over those two cute guys…David Soul, who played Hutch, was easy on the eyeballs, as well. I wonder what he looks like now…I should Google and find out. Starsky still looks pretty good for an older guy.

Does this ever happen to you…you see someone in a commercial who you KNOW is (or was) supposed to be famous, yet you can’t place the name on them?

EDITED TO ADD: I just found this pic, which is from the premier of the “Starsky & Hutch” movie from a few years ago. I’m afraid that David Soul didn’t age quite as well as Paul Michael Glaser. Oh, well. The third guy in that pic is Antonio Fargas, who played their informant, Huggy Bear.

The Harry Potter Project

So, as I mentioned a few days ago, I FINALLY bought the new Harry Potter book…and here I am with it. I actually bought TWO copies…one for me, and the other for a prize for Kat to give away to promote the Blogathon. She raised over $800 for the Montel Williams MS Foundation, and managed to stay up for the full 24 hours to do this. As someone who did the Blogathon a few years back, I know how hard this can be. I didn’t do it this year because we had other plans, but I might do it sometime in the future. It’s hard, but it’s fun, and very rewarding. Kat did an awesome job, and I’m glad that I was able to do my part to help out!

Anyhoo, if you think that I am going to read this new HP book now, you are wrong! I am going back to book one, and reading that through book six in sequence, before even opening book seven. And as I finish each book, I am handing them over to Mike, so he can finally read them, as well. Can you believe that he has NEVER read a Harry Potter book, although we have all of them here at home? He keeps saying he wants to, but never gets around to it. Now, he will. No excuses now!

He has seen all of the movies that are currently on DVD, as we have them all, and he enjoyed them. But I keep nagging him to read the books already. Although it is possible to enjoy the movies without reading the books, I still think that the books should be read.

As for book seven, I confess that I did peek, just a little, at some sites that had spoilers. But I’m staying away from those now so I don’t learn more than I already did, and I’m not telling you what I know!

Oh my God, you killed Kenny!

I love Monty Python. And so do the creators of “South Park”, Trey Parker and Matt Stone. I came upon this video, which is a South Park version of Monty Python’s famous “Dead Parrot Sketch”. Here, Cartman had bought a “Kenny” from the Friend Store (where Kyle is the sales clerk), and returns him, because he’s dead.

Also on the page I’m linking to here is the original Dead Parrot Sketch. Enjoy! LOL

And WHY…

…was Ye Olde Blogge here NOT featured on the Mike & Juliet Show this morning?

Stars of the World Wide Web! Click that link to see a video of the segment…I may not have been there, but Perez Hilton was. Yeah, yeah, yeah…I do peek over there and read him once in a while. So bust me. Who DOESN’T check out old Perez on occasion? C’mon…ADMIT IT!

It was cool to see him on TV, though. I wonder what his real name is…surely, Perez Hilton is NOT this guy’s real name! LOL

Have you seen the Star Wars stamps that are coming out soon? Go to the link I just provided, and mouse over the individual stamps to see each one. It is a sheet of 15 different stamps, and you can vote for the one you like the best. The winning stamp will be produced as sheets of just that one stamp. They have other cool Star Wars stuph on the site, as well, so go and check it out!

I think I like C-3PO the best. The stamps will be out at the end of this month. I am going to buy a sheet for my collection (I do have a postage stamp collection), they look so cool, I don’t think I could bring myself to break it up and use it. But when they come out with the sheet of whatever stamp wins the voting thing, I will buy and use those.

Which one of these stamps do YOU like the best?

It's FUN to charter an accountant…

…And sail the wide accountancy,
To find, explore the funds offshore
And skirt the shoals of bankruptcy!

Full speed ahead, Mr. Cohen…or in this case, Mr. Murphy! Okay, I’ll stop with the Monty Python stuff now! LOL

There’s an Easton Accounting firm out there called Murphy & Company. Easton is a town south of Boston, in case you didn’t know. Anyhoo, they specialize in services for small businesses.

Evil Bossman made the mistake of not hiring a professional accounting firm to handle his finances…but then again, why would he want someone else to find out what a CROOK he is? But for HONEST small business owners, hiring a competent account is a MUST. They take care of everything, from taxes, to payroll, to other business expenses.

And hey…their name is MURPHY…that’s gotta make them cool, at least in MY book! LOL

Nope, no relation, but check ‘em out if you’re in the South Shore area of MA, and tell ‘em a fellow Murphy sent ya!
