I'm not so screwed, after all…
…as it did occur to me that I just MIGHT, in spite of all of the other stuph I have plugged into it, have a spare USB port on the back of the computer. It was just the handy-dandy one on the front that seemed to have been fried.
So I pulled the thing out…the back is not in easy reach otherwise…and sure enough, there was a place to plug in the iPod. I did so, iTunes woke up, it continued to charge, and everyone is happy.
While I had the thing pulled out, I once again became annoyed by the jumble of wires and cables that are back there. I had bought one of these kits a while back, but had never gotten around to using it…until now. It’s SO much better now! No more tangles mess back there, and less chance of naughty kitties, who can get behind things much easier than I can, of chewing through wires.
I highly reccomend this product, as it is very easy to use, and does the job. If the cable zipper thing is too long, you can easily cut it to size with regular scissors, and use the rest of it elsewhere in your home. I have enough left to tackle the mess that is behind the entertainment center, the one I’m getting rid of soon.
Anyhoo, all I really need to to now is to buy another USB cord for the camera, to replace the one that was fried. The old one is completely unusable…when it got fried, the end that sticks into the camera got misshapen. But I think it’s a standard size, so I should be able to pick one up at any store that sells this kind of thing. I’ll take the old one to the store with me, just to be sure.
But I do want to thank Mike (not MY Mike) for his suggestion in the comments of the first post about this. Good to know that I have another option!
All is well with the world! ![]()
