Sometimes it pays to procrastinate…
I talked awhile back about a weekend trip to Manchester, New Hamster, for the weekend of June 23-24. We have Fisher Cats tickets for Saturday night and Sunday (they are playing the Sea Dogs), plus there’s also the Rubber Stamp & Scrapbook Expo in town that weekend, at the Radisson. I can go to the scrapbook show in the daytime on Saturday, and then go to the game in the evening
I had been looking at what lodging was available via HotelReservations.com, and saw that some places offer geezer rates (as in for people over 50). Mike turned 55 earlier this month, so he qualifies. I’m three years away from the big 5-0, though, so the reservation would have to be made in his name…and they say they need proof of age. But they probably only need it from the person in whose name the reservation was made.
We really wanted to stay at one of the hotels downtown, within an easy walk of the ballpark and the scrapbook show…either at the Radisson or the Hilton Garden Inn. The closest decent place that I could find was the Comfort Inn Airport, which is only one exit off I-293 away from the exit for downtown and the ballpark. It’s less than 2 miles from downtown, so that’s fine. It’s not THAT close to the airport, but not far from it, either, for those who are flying into and out of Boston-Manchester.
But I was putting off making the reservation, hoping that there’d be a cancellation at either the Garden Inn or Radisson. There has not been. So I decided that I’d better make a reservation SOMEPLACE, before there is nothing left but that shithole Econo-Lodge. This dump is not too far from the Comfort Inn, but according the reviews I read over on TripAdvisor (which I have always found to be a relaible source), it’s a horrible, horrible place that you only go to if the only other choice is sleeping in your car. I forget if this was on TripAdvisor, or on some other travel review site…but someone said that they turned down the bedding, and found a used condom there. If all of the other bad reviews aren’t enough to not make you want to stay there, this certainly would! Ugh! That is just gross!
