Yep, my copy of BenSpark’s Photo-A-Day 2008 Calendar has arrived!

It came nicely packed in a flat box, which I much appreciated. If it had been shipped in an envelope, no doubt that the idiot mailman would have just shoved it into my mail slot and ruined it. Such as it was, the idiot mailman just left it on the porch without bothering to knock on the door to give it to me. I miss our old mailman, even though he worked for the Evil Post Office, he was still an okay guy, and always knocked when there was stuff too big for the mail slot. But if he got transferred to a better post office, good for him. I’ve had some run-ins with the postmaster of the EPO, he is one nasty piece of work. I can see why he can’t get too many good people to work for him!

Anyway, the calendar is gorgeous! A nice touch is that each of Drew’s photos is captioned with a title, number and dates that it was featured as a Photo-A-Day. That way, you can easily find it on the BenSpark blog, and read the story behind it.

If you don’t wish to purchase a calendar, but still want to help the Machinski Family, there is also a PayPal donation button. Drew hopes to sell at least 100 calendars and present the family with a $200 check at his high school reunion in November, and he is asking for support from the blogging community.

I’m very pleased with the quality of the calendar that I received. I’ll probably end up hanging it on the wall near my computer, so I’ll have something pretty to look at every day.

…I can be notoriously cheap. I’m one of those people who waits until mid-January to buy calendars for the new year… then I hit the calendar kiosk at the mall to get something at 50-75% off.

But once in a while, I do buy a calendar before the old year is over, and pay full price. I just ordered my copy of BenSpark’s Photo-A-Day 2008 Calendar.

Now, why would I pay $15 + shipping for a calendar? Well, first of all, the calendar itself is beautiful. If you enjoy Drew’s Photo-A-Day (widget is up there ^^), you will love to have this calendar in your home or office.

But it’s more than that. This is not a way for Drew to make money for himself. This is a special project where the proceeds will benefit the Machinski Family, who have been fighting long battles with cancer.

Charlotte blogged about a cool new program. What it does is that it will automatically add anyone who added you to their Technorati favorites to your faves. This is a program that anyone can run, no matter what blogging platform you use. You run it whenever you wish, in order to update your faves.

Sometimes it is hard to keep up with all of this social networking stuph, and this little program makes it all the more easier. Please check out Charlotte’s post for the link to where you can get this, too.

Of course, you do need to remember to actually log in to Technorati from time to time, to make sure that you haven’t been favorited by blogs you don’t like, and returned the favor via this program. Most blogs are legit, but I don’t want to be favorited by spam and porn sites. You have to go to Technorati to clean these up.

There is a new competition out there, Blog For A Year. I’m not entering this myself, because I’m just too lazy! So I am putting my support behind Drew, who has entered. When he wins, he will be paid to blog for an entire year! How cool is that?
