Won't you let me take you on a sea cruise?

So…after the semi disaster that Saturday was…here’s how Sunday went…

The weather was indeed beautiful…a nice, crisp, sunny fall day…temps in the 60’s.  Definitely sweatshirt weather.

I had hoped to be able to go to Perkins Cove in Ogunquit, to walk around and look at the shops, take a scenic cruise, and eat at this place called Barnacle Billy’s Etc.  But when we got there, the whole place was jam-packed, just like it was in the middle of the summer.  That lot that makes you leave your keys was still boxing in cars, and charging ten bucks for the *privilege*.  No thanks.  We circled around once to look for other parking, and then left and headed up to Portland.  We knew that parking is easier up there, and it’s less crowded, has boats, shops, and good places to eat.

So, we got there and parked in our usual place, the garage across the street from Gritty McDuff’s Brewpub, where we had lunch and hung out for a while.  Then, we went out to look for a boat ride to go on.

Portland was pretty quiet on this Sunday afternoon, and our usual boat places had canceled their afternoon/evening cruises due to not enough people to sail with them.  But we knew that we could always go over to the Casco Bay Ferry Terminal and take a ride on one of those boats.  These boats are designed for people who live out on the islands and need to get back and forth to the mainland, but they let anyone who pays the fare ride a round trip.  We’ve done this a few times.

I rule so much, it's not funny…

So Mike wanted to drag me to some lame-assed “Members’ Day” crap at the Seashore Trolley Museum. I know how much he loves this stuph, and I do my best to be a supportive wife. We shall ignore, for now, the fact that he won’t go to a scrapbooking/papercrafting show with me.

I was not thrilled about this trolley car thing at first, as his original plans would have deprived me of seeing the Red Sox/Y*****s game on Saturday. No way in hell was I about to stand for THAT, something HAD to be done!

Anyhoo, to make a long story slightly shorter, I’m getting a weekend in Maine out of this. At first, Mike wanted the stupid trolley car shit to be a day trip. But then he apologized to me for being an ass about it all, and said that we could book a room at Dan’s for the weekend. For two nights, Friday and Saturday…but I told him to tell whatever lies he had to in order to escape work as early as possible on Friday! I mean…his boss does shit like skip out when his wife calls and says that his kid sneezed…so why can’t Mike say that he has to leave because I sneezed, or one of our cats gacked, or something like that?

It irks me to no end that because Mike is not a father, he gets screwed at work, being expected to do shit for those who have kids, and fill in for them. And when he does get time off, he has to kill himself getting shit done before he leaves. That’s pretty much what happened before our recent vacation.

I completely understand why he does not want his boss to know he has a cell phone…if he knew, Mike would NEVER be left alone. Ever.

Anyhoo, I managed to talk him into making a weekend of this. I’ve not heard back from Dan yet about the room, but I doubt this will be a problem. I guess I can deal with a few hours at this members shit at the trolley car museum, in exchange for two nights away in Maine! I’ll get to do stuph that I want to do as well, and not miss important ball games and all.

I rule. tongue wink

A boat and a moat…

We can’t take a trip up to Maine/New Hampshire without taking one of those scenic cruises. We didn’t get a chance to do any boating up in Portland, in Casco Bay. But we did get to take a scenic cruise in Portsmouth Harbor in New Hampshire…I posted about that over on another of my blogs, Six Great States.

Sometimes I think it might be cool to buy an island out on Casco Bay, and my own boat so that I can get to and from it. They do have private islands for sale out there…too bad I didn’t win the Powerball or the Megamillions so that I can afford this! I’m always talking about how I hate most of my neighbors, and I wish I had a moat to keep them away. But ‘gators wouldn’t survive a New England winter, so perhaps having my own island would be the next best thing. Maybe I can entice a few sharks to hang out nearby, so they can chow down on anyone who tries to swim to my island. I don’t think there are any sharks in Casco Bay, though.

Speaking of neighbors, the house next door is for sale. It’s a two-family home…one unit is occupied by a single guy, and an elderly couple lives in the other one. The elderly couple own the house; I guess they want to move to Florida or someplace else that’s warmer than here in the winter. They’re nice people, among the very few people around here that I like, and the single guy is okay…he’s quiet and doesn’t bother anyone. I’m going to be very sorry to see them go, and I am dreading the thought of what will move in once the place is sold. No doubt it will be the same sort of scum who has infested all of the other houses around me.

I do NOT look forward to this!

Well…

…we’re outta here in about an hour. I think I’ve gotten just about everything done that needs to be done before we leave…except for me showering and getting dressed. Then, we’re outta here!

We’ll be back on Saturday night. I may or may not blog from Portland…depending if I get to hit that internet cafe or not. The Java Net Cafe…I assume it’s still there.

Anyhoo, see you on the flip side!

Be my guest, you've got nothing to lose…

I love boats. And I am always looking for cool scenic cruises to take. I am hoping we can take one when we go up to Maine at the beginning of June. We will have most of Saturday free…yeah, Mike will want to go to the Seashore Trolley Museum, but in exchange for my having to go along with that, we will get to take a twilight cruise, maybe out of Kennebunkport or Ogunquit.

And on said boat, we can sit, enjoy the ocean, and drink beer. I love the ocean. I could never live too far away from it, ever. If Mike told me that we had to move to someplace like Ohio, I would either divorce or kill him…no way am I leaving my beloved New England!

But he does love it here as much as I do, so we ain’t going nowhere! Life is good!
