How to cancel AOHell

I mentioned in my last post about how Mike was FINALLY able to get our old AOL account cancelled. As I’m sure you’ve heard, cancelling is next to impossible. You can’t do it via e-mail, you have to call, write, or fax. I don’t have a fax machine, but I had been calling and writing, with no luck.
I don’t know where Mike found this, but this is the address of the legal department at AOHell. AOHell is based in Virginia, but this address is in Florida. It is different from the address I was given for cancelling. He sent a certified letter to them, and our account was cancelled immediately. The response letter we got did have a big long commercial for why we should re-consider, but who cares? All we wanted was for them to just stop charging us for something we were no longer wanting and using!

You don’t have to write a long letter…just short and to the point, as in PLEASE CANCEL MY ACCOUNT. Even if you are REALLY mad at them, resist the urge to use swear words. If I can do this, so can you! Be sure to include the PRIMARY screenname of your AOHell account.
And then you must send this to them via Certified Mail, with a Return Receipt. When you do this, they know that You Mean Business, and you can usually get a resolution to the problem this way. This costs a few bucks, but it’s well worth it to FINALLY get them to stop billing you!
