I am a dork, part #5,703,706…

Yesterday, I was trying to take a nap, and was awakened by the ringing of a cell phone. I noticed that the ringing was coming from where Mike usually keeps his phone, when he’s at home…and when I looked, there was a phone on that shelf. So I ignored it, thinking it was Mike’s phone, and he forgot it. I am the only one besides him who has the number for that phone, so anyone calling it would be dialing a wrong number, or someone looking for that deadbeat guy who had the phone number before Mike did.

I was actually more pissed that he forgot his phone, than I was over yet another wrong number. I made him get the phone for emergencies, and it sure did come in handy when our old car broke down and died. Chances are, the new car will not break down, but we do have roadside assistance in case it does. Kind of hard to use it without a phone, though. Also, sometimes he gets stuck for hours in traffic jams caused by idiots getting into accidents…I want him to be able to call me and let me know what’s going on, so I don’t have to worry.

So, of course, when he came home, I gave him shit over forgetting his phone. To which he pulled a phone out of his pocket…we have identical phones…and said that the one that was sitting on the bookshelf was MY phone. Mike found it in the wastebasket when he was emptying it…no doubt it has been knocked into it by a cat…and put it where he puts his phone.

Oops…my bad!

Anyway, it turned out that the person calling me was some flower shop up in Maine. I ordered flowers to be sent to Danielle, and I gave my number rather than theirs. So the guy thought that he was delivering the flowers to me. Now I wonder if he ever did deliver them to Danielle, since I didn’t know that I’d gotten this call. Maybe I need to call and check.

I am such a dork!
