I can has pizza!
And it’s yummie! Mike brought me the Stouffer’s French Bread Pizza, just as I asked for. In fact, he got me two packs, as they were on sale. I had one pack tonight, the other will be for the next time I crave pizza.
I don’t ask for much out of life…I don’t demand that Mike bring me diamond rings, Sector watches, and other fancy stuph. I just wanted pizza!

Tomorrow we will start going back to our old fall/winter routine, of going to the Good Post Office on Saturdays to collect mail, then out to lunch somewhere, and then to the grocery store. During the minor league baseball season, Saturday outings were just to the grocery store, because most of our games were on Sundays. We’d go out to eat before or after the game, depending on what time the game was.
But one tradition that’s gone forever is going to the Piccadilly Pub in Tewksbury after going to the Good Post Office. I used to really enjoy that place, but at the tail end of March, just before baseball started, that place really started going down the toilet, to the point where I no longer enjoyed going there. They had new servers/bartenders, who were no good at their jobs. I told Mike that I didn’t want to go there anymore, at least not to that particular location.
Mike still went there for lunch a couple of times a week, when he was picking up mail. But now even he has stopped going there, because not only has the service gotten suckier, but the food has, as well. He thinks that what happened was that location went under new management, and they care more about smelly drunks who come in to play KENO than in people who actually want something good to eat.
He started going to the 99 in Tewksbury instead. He says that the food there has actually improved…it is now safe to order fish & chips, as they are no longer overcooked as they were in the past. At least that’s what he says. But if we start going there on Saturdays, I probably still won’t order anything fried. I still remember the last time I got fish & chips from the 99. It was something like ten years ago, but the tummyache I got after eating it was bad enough to be memorable after all of those years. The fish was severely overcooked and nasty. That’s a problem we’ve seen in other 99 locations as well.
I will save my fish & chips eating for the Wild Rover Pub, up in Manchester, NH. This is where we always went after Fisher Cats’ ball games, and we love it. Once in a while we will drive up there after Saturday mail collection, during the off-season…just because we like it so much.
But not tomorrow. Tropical Storm Hanna is due to hit us up here tomorrow night, so we’ll just go someplace local. The storm is going to hit those out on the Cape worse than those of us up here, but we’re still going to get some nasty rain from it.
So we’ll stay close to home this weekend.
