I don’t wanna go!
So Mike filled in all of the events he knows of, on his 2010 calendars. I was not happy to see that he filled in not only The Train Show From Hell, but some gun show in Marlboro, that same weekend, January 30-31. Said gun show is to be held at the Royal Plaza Hotel, a place I do not wish to set foot in again, as they tortured me by denying me beer, yet forced me to deal with annoying brats, while being held hostage (and carless) while waiting for Mike to finish looking at the train show that was there.
He had promised me that we did NOT have to go to this crap. But if he decides he wants to, I’m screwed. He’ll say he won’t go without me, and make me feel bad, so I’ll go. This is too far for a day trip, it involves an overnight stay in a hotel somewhere. In past years, I’ve stayed in the room while he went to the show, only to be annoyed by housekeeping beating on the door, even though I put up the DO NOT DISTURB sign.
Do it again this year? DO NOT WANT.
It’s not fair. I have NEVER dragged him to any scrapbooking show that I wanted to go to, I either would go alone, or with a friend who was interested. The only time Mike was anywhere NEAR a scrapbooking convention was when we went to Manchester for a Fisher Cats game, and there just so happened to be one going on the same weekend. It was being held at the Radisson, we were staying at the Hilton Garden Inn, which are an easy walk apart. We got there before HGI check in time, so we went to the Radisson, had a beer at the bar there, and then he left to check into the hotel, while I went to the scrapbook thing. Then I walked to the HGI, Mike didn’t have to see the inside of the thing at all. He was also in a much nicer hotel room than the ones I had to sit in when he was at his stupid train shows. Hotels out that way just aren’t as nice, unless you want to spend a million dollars.
I am hoping that the snow is in our favor. Can’t book a room, and then have to cancel due to weather at the last minute, that would cost us.
So far, Mike is saying that he just wrote this down, that he doesn’t think we will go. I can always hope!

I’d stand my ground if you really don’t want to do that stuff. Make him man up and go alone or give it up. Life is too short to torture yourself doing stuff you hate!
Otherwise if you have to go, just make sure to get a hotel room with wifi, stay in the hotel while he does his stuff and play around on the internet. That’s what I’d do!
