I hate Micro$oft – and site recommendations

WHY does Micro$oft stuph always have to be so big and bulky, and take forever to download?

Yesterday, I was looking for a free .pdf maker.  I found PrimoPDF, which has a free version.   I downloaded that, only to be told that it a also required some Micro$oft .NET crap.  It was a HUGE download.  I decided not to bother, and looked elsewhere.  Every time I’ve ever downloaded anything from Micro$oft, it messes something up on my computer.  The only Bill Gate$ crap that is on this computer is what came with it.

I decided to go with PDF Redirect.  It’s free, and it was a pretty quick download.  No extra Bill Gate$ crap required.  And I found it very easy to use.

So why do some people choose to make things more complicated than they have to be?

Anyhoo, the reason I was looking for a .pdf maker was that I wanted to scan in the manual for my George Foreman rotisserie and upload it to this website where members can find users manuals for their appliances.  It’s called KitchenManualsOnline.com.   I actually went there to look for the manual for this appliance, because I had misplaced mine.  It wasn’t there, and there were many people who had posted requests for it.  I looked elsewhere, but it was not to be found anywhere.  Mike always says that if I’m looking for something on the internet, and I can’t find it, it probably doesn’t exist.

I did find my manual after all…it wasn’t in the folder with all of my other appliance manuals…it was on one of my cookbook shelves, with my collection of George Foreman fat burners appliance cookbooks.  In addition to the rotisserie, I also have one of the older grills, as well as the contact roaster.  I love George’s applainces, even though he’s done weird stuph, such as naming all of his sons George.

So that was my good deed for the day…I .pdf’ed the manual and posted it to that site.  I will have to look around further and see if anyone is looking for any other manuals that I might happen to have.

With the economy being what it is, more and more people are buying stuff used, such as from yard sales or thrift shops.  Many people also use Freecycle to get free stuph that other people no longer want.  The problem with this is that used appliances often don’t come with the instruction manual.  If the product is discontinued, you are not likely to find the manual for it on the manufacturer’s website.  So this KitchenManualsOnline.com site is an excellent idea.  Check it out if you need a manual for anything.  You do have to register, but it’s fast and free.
