I think Mike hates the MBTA…
…even more than I do, and that is saying something! I thought that NOBODY hated the MBTA more than I do!
So we’re going to Symphony Hall to see Garrison Keillor and the Boston Pops tonight. The plan is for me to take the evil MBTA to the Summer Shack restaurant near the Pru, and he’ll meet me there. We’ll have dinner and then go to the show.
I was assuming that he’d park at the Wellington T station and take the train into town himself. But tonight he was talking about actually driving into town and parking at the Pru garage. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I heard that! But he said that the T is a pain in the ass, especially the Orange Line, where you never know where or when they will bus people around.
I checked, and found that it costs $15 to park at the Prudential enter garage, if you have a ticket stub for an event, like the Pops or the Red Sox. If the Red Sox were in town, I;d have advised Mike against driving in, because the traffic would be horrendous, especially if the concert and the game let out at about the same time. But now, the Sox are busy getting their asses kicked by the Orioles in Baltimore right now, so driving in and out of town should be somewhat safe.
So he says he’ll think about it. I hope he DOES drive into town, because I really hate taking the T late at night, what with all of the weirdos and shit we see there. I think it would be fifteen bucks well spent!

So if I have to take the T to get there, which I do…at least I have a good book to read. When we were at Federal Jack’s brewpub up in Kennebunkport, Maine, I stopped in their gift store, as always. There, I picked up an interesting looking book called Ambitious Brew: The Story of American Beer. I started reading it yesterday, and so far, so good. Apparently, many of the ASSumptions that we’ve all been making about the BIG BEER BREWERIES are false, the folks at Anheuser-Busch are not quite as evil as I’ve always thought them to be. I do still think their beer is swill, though, but that’s my opinion. Anyhoo, this book is a good read so far.

At least the weather should be decent, no rain, warm enough. But still, let’s keep our fingers crossed that Mike opts to drive into town for the show, so I get to avoid the evil MBTA going home!
