It’s bitching rights day…

So, have YOU exercised yours today? That is, if you live in Massachusetts or any other one of the two dozen Super Tuesday states.
Remember, if you don’t go out and vote, you shouldn’t bitch about who gets elected.
I was waiting for the rain to let up…it was coming down very heavily here for a while…before I went forth to The Bitching Rights Place. I wanted to be able to get there before school let out, as I didn’t want to be harassed by the gangs of teen thugs on the streets here.
The only semi-annoying thing was that this crappy town once again put us on the *inactive* voter list. See, we didn’t vote last November, because there wasn’t anything worth bothering to go out and vote for.  They probably had an election for local dog-catcher or something like that, but it’s not something we care about. We only vote in the big elections, such as Congress on up. Even with Congress, we won’t make a special trip just for that, Ed Markey runs unopposed every time. I have nothing against the guy, so why not let him be our Congressman forever (or until we move to some other district).
But I got back on the active list by voting today, they had to fill out this long-assed form and I had to sign it. Mike didn’t vote today, and he won’t be doing so, since he’s registered as a Libertarian. They aren’t having a primary; they’ll just pick someone to slap onto the ballot in November, someone who won’t win.
As I’ve mentioned before, I am registered as *unenrolled*…not affiliated with any party. This really is the best fit for me, because I don’t agree with any one party all the way down the line. I just want the option of being able to vote in either primary, picking the person I like the best. So I told the guy at the desk that I wanted a Democratic ballot, and I went and voted for Hillary.
The only way I would have voted Republican is if there was someone I wanted to vote AGAINST. We Yanks aren’t big into the bible-thumping thing…in fact, I noticed that Ron Paul did better than Mike Huckabee in the Maine caucus this past weekend. Paul came in third, John McCain won, and Mitt Romney came in second.
I don’t know how old Mitt will do here, even though he used to be our governor. You see, he pissed off a LOT of people who voted for him (yes, I confess, I did, and I apologize) with his flip-flopping. He used to come off as a more middle of the road Republican, but then he started showing his true colors once he decided to run for President. Towards the end of his term, he was obsessed with banning gay marriage (which was and still is legal here, let’s keep it that way!).
Even if Mitt does take MA today, McCain will take many more states, and I still think he’ll win the nomination. So that’s why I just decided to actually vote for who I wanted to vote for, simple as that.
We’ll see what happens when they show election results on TV tonight!
