Oh hai!
I haven’t been online for most of the day. I was just being lazy…sleeping until almost noon, watching TV, and then we had to go grocery shopping. Right now I am cooking a pork shoulder roast, braised in hard apple cider, a recipe that is in the new Martha Stewart book. I only needed 3 twelve ounce bottles of hard cider, I used Woodchuck Cider made with Granny Smith apples. But I had to buy a whole six-pack, oh, what a horrible sacrifice to have to drink the other three bottles…LOL!
It smells so YUMMIE! But it probably won’t be ready for at least another couple of hours. It’ll be worth the wait, though.
People can be so gullible. At Shaw’s, they are having a promotion where, if you spend $25 on certain Kraft products (most of them are junk food and very little is anything I’d actually buy), they will give you ten bucks off on the purchase of a FRESH turkey. You also have to buy all of this crap in a single transaction. Sheesh, I can just choose to NOT buy $25 worth of crap and be better off. It’s never a bargain when you need to buy stuph you would not normally buy, to get a discount on something.
It’s debatable as to whether most supermarket turkeys sold as “fresh” really are. I’ve bought some in past years that were supposed to be “fresh”, but were really partly frozen. If you insist on a really fresh turkey, order one from a turkey farm. It’s probably too late for that now, though.
So I just buy frozen, ahead of time enough so it has plenty to time to thaw. At Shaw’s, they are advertising frozen turkeys for 48 cents a pound. The only requirement is that you purchase $25 worth of just about anything in the store, in addition to the turkey, to qualify for the cheap price. Now that is not hard to do,. probably once I select eerything else for Thanksgiving dinner, I will have spent more than $25 right there. Also, giant bags of Purina Cat Chow cost about ten bucks, big bags of litter cost $7, so there you go.
Oh, that pork roast smells SO YUMMIE!
