Saturday Stuph…
The usual around here today…Good Post Office, lunch at the Picaddilly Pub, grocery shopping. Yawn. However, we also went to the dreaded Burlington Maul, because Mike wanted to go to Sears to buy new underwear. Isn’t that exciting…NOT!
Since we were already there, I walked over to the Sephora store to play with the testers of BE makeup. I don’t really need anything right now, especially since I just got some new stuph this past week…but it’s still fun to check out the testers and see what I like for future purchases. I didn’t buy anything today because I’m a bit short on cash at the moment. I just plunked down a lot for the Fisher Cats’ season mini-plan, so I have to be good until at least payday, which is at the end of this week.
I won’t spend money from the joint account on this sort of thing; I won’t make Mike pay for my expensive habits, like makeup and craft supplies. He makes enough to pay the bills and have savings and do nice stuph and all, but the small income that I earn is for some of the extras I enjoy. Mike has no argument with that. But I often use this money to do stuph for both of us, such as the Fisher Cats’ mini plan, and the Spamalot tix. I also pay for the hotels when we take our little trips, such as when we went to that train show thing a few weeks ago. So it’s fair.
It works well because we’re saving to buy a house, and if I can earn a little extra, I can have some nice things, and so can he, and it won’t hurt the budget. Pretty soon, we’ll be talking to various mortgage lenders to see what we can qualify for, Mike did write all of the numbers down for me, so I can get started on that soon.

But I REALLY do hate the maul, and once again, I was reminded as of why. On the way to Sephora, I walked past this “Organic Skin Care” kiosk. I hate maul kiosks, because the people who work in then are often very aggressive about trying to get customers. The cell phone ones are the worst, but others can be just as bad at times.
I try to walk as far away from the kiosks as possible, and I NEVER look the people who work there in the eye, lest they think I’m interested in their sales pitch. But this one bitch at the “Organic Skin Care” kiosk started yelling, “excuse me, ma’am”, as I was going by…getting louder as I walked by and ignored her. Sorry, but that is NOT how you sell me anything. If I was interested, I;d have stopped and looked at the stuph. As it is, I am very happy with the skin care stuph I use now, I have no desire to change.
A few years ago, I was aggressively harassed by not one, but TWO kiosk people at the Square One Maul. One was a cell phone guy, for Verizon Wireless, which especially pissed me off because I had just quit using them…I hate them, they suck at pre-paid cell phones. The other was some sort of skin care, I forget who. Anyhoo, they were VERY aggressive, and pissed me off so much that I emailed the maul manager.
He responded, and apologized, saying that it was strictly against maul policy to do this, and the kiosk people could be kicked out. I never had this problem again at this particular maul, so I guess he really gave out the warning he told me he would.
The Burlington Maul is also a Simon Maul, so I wonder if Simon has a chain-wide policy here. I think I will email the manager there to complain about Miss Organic Skin Care. It can’t hurt, and maybe I will get an apology and a promise of them giving the bitch a warning about aggressive sales behavior.
So that was my day…how was yours?
