Saturday Stuph…
I’m sitting here being kind of bored. Mike went in to work today, he wants to make up the time he missed attending to my medical stuff. I don’t know what time he’s coming back. If the weather stays okay, I might like to go to the North Shore Navigators game tonight. The game starts at 6:30 PM, he should be home long before then!
I was sitting watching some TV…CreateTV, one of the PBS digital channels, is having a BBQ University marathon all day. I like the show, but I just got tired of watching it, so here I am online.

Businesses sure are being creative when it comes to the state of the economy, high gas prices, and all. I just heard an ad on the radio for Mattress Discounters. They are having a sale this weekend…bring in as many gas receipts as you have, and they will take double the total of them off the price of a mattress…savings can be up to $400. So if you are in the market for a new mattress, this is a great time to get one…it would be like getting all of that gas money back!

And it seems that everybody in the touristy-stuff business is cutting prices in order to get people to come out. I heard on the news that there is expected to be a record low number of people traveling for the long 4th of July weekend. Gas is too expensive, food prices are rising, and many people just can’t afford to go anywhere this year. So they are staying at home, and BBQing and stuff. Maybe they should be watching that BBQ U show today, to get some pointers. At least I wish my neighbors would…especially the part where the host, Steven Raichlen, shows how to use a chimney starter, instead of lighter fluid. But that’s a rant that will be addressed over on Christine the Curmudgeon later today.
For people who do have some money for trips and stuff, there are deals galore. There are great hotel deals almost everywhere, they really want to fill those rooms. Then you have places like Six Flags and their “everyone pays kids’ price” promotion.
These are all non-essential things, and the only way they can stay afloat in this economy is to lower prices and offer special deals and discounts. So, if you have the money, this is the time to take advantage of all of this!
