Saturday Stuph

Saturday, 18 October 2008, 9:00

Good morning!  Man, is it COLD…I was watching the news earlier, and it was only 35 degrees F.  Right now, it’s a whopping 39 degrees.  Might be time to shop for a pair of UGG boots or something to keep my feet warm.

I’m kinda pissed at the moment.  Mike had printed out a complete schedule for the baseball playoffs. and I was happy to see that today’s Sox/R**s game was scheduled for a 4:37 PM start.  But now that the NLCS is over, they decided to move tonight’s game to prime-time…8:07PM.  If the NLCS were still going on, that game would have been prime-time tonight.  They don’t want to have two playoff games running at the same time, even though they are on two different networks.

WTF is up with these weird times, anyway?  Why not just on the hour or half hour?

Anyhoo, going out somewhere to watch a game that starts at 4:30 is a LOT easier than going out to watch one that starts at 8PM, especially on a Saturday.  Bars and restaurants get packed to the gills on Saturday nights.  They are much less crowded at 4:30, though.

The ALCS games are all on TBS, which we don’t get at home because we don’t have cable.  And we’ll never get it now, because I am more pissed at Comcast than I ever was before. I wrote another post earlier today about how they are trying to scare lower income folks into thinking that subscribing to Comcast is the least cost-effective method of dealing with the upcoming DTV transition.  It is most certainly NOT.

Anyhoo, we’ll still try to go out anyway, probably to our regular TGI Friday’s.   This is the one that has a huge, separate bar area and about a dozen TVs.  We still do have our one-time *jump the line* pass we got for joining their Give Me More Stripes customer loyalty program.  But that is just for the dining room, not the bar.  And there is no way in hell I will ever sit in the dining room of that place.  It’s like Romper Room over on that side, if I wanted that, I’d just go over to the Chuck E. Cheese on the other side of the parking lot.  Besides, there are no TVs in the dining room, and that would defeat the purpose of going there in the first place.

But the bar area has a nice, adult sports bar atmosphere that we like.  We will try getting there early, before game time, and hope for the best.

So I’m not doing much until then.  Mike needs to go across the street to the Geezer Barber Shop and get a haircut.  Then he wants to go to some boring model train club thing up in Wakefield.  He can go to that without me, it’s not far away and he’ll only be gone for a few hours.  The only reason I go to the Seashore Trolley Museum with him is because I get to go to Federal Jack’s afterward.  No Federal Jack’s, or any other cool place, up in Wakefield.

We need to go to the shopping center where the Friday’s is anyway, we need to go to PetSmart to buy food for the meowsers.   Even though they annoyed us by playing horsecats on our bed at 3AM, we still feed them.  Of course, now that we are awake, they are all sound asleep.  Figures!

While Mike is gone, I’ll do some work, get some laundry done, not much else planned.   Yawn.
