Shouldn't they be in SCHOOL?
There is some kid outside going up and down the sidewalk outside on a skateboard. Nothing I can do about it, it’s a public sidewalk. But the noise is driving me nuts, as I’m sitting at the computer, which is right near the front windows. And we’re on the ground floor.
I looked outside, and the kid looked to be about 10-11 years old. Why is he NOT in school? I KNOW that today is a school day, as I heard them going by here to get to the school up the street this morning. And I don’t think they had a half-day today, because then there’d be a whole lot of other kids out and about. I would have heard them going past when school was letting out.
If this kid is too sick to be in school, he is also too sick to be outside zooming around on a skateboard.

On a related rant, it annoys me that there are parks and stuff around here, but the kids won’t use them. Now that the weather is nice, the local kids like to play baseball and stuff on the side street near where we park our car. They often block our way, and get all pissy when we honk the horn to make them move. Yet, there is a nice, grassy ball field about two blocks away. I walk past the place sometimes, and never see anyone using it. It’s a rather large field, plenty of room to set up two or three separate games.
Skateboard parks are a good idea on principle, and many towns spent the money to build them. Our town doesn’t have one that I know of, but even if it did, it’ll probably be just like the aforementioned baseball field…no one will use it. Mike used to drive past a skateboard park on the way to his old job. Even on nice summer days, he never saw anyone using it. Yet, he was always seeing kids on skateboards on the streets, sidewalks, and other places that were not far from this skateboard park.
I just don’t get it!
