The dough also rises…

…well, I hope it will! I ordered new yeast from The Baker’s Catalogue two days ago, and the package just came today. I also ordered some bread bags, and a bag of caraway seeds. I love caraway seeds in rye bread…seedless rye is an abomination, in my opinion!

The caraway seeds cost about $3.00 for an 8 ounce bag. That means the unit price is $6.00/pound. Nect time you are at the stupidmarket, take a look at the unit price for one of those little jars of caraway seeds, in the spice department. Then, you will see for yourself how much of a rip-off those little jars of herbs and spices are. I never buy those anymore, as I have plenty of other sources for much less expensive herbs & spices.

But eight ounces of caraway seeds should last a long time, even for me, who uses at least twice as many as any bread recipe calls for.

Mike bought bread the other day, after hearing about the death of my old yeast. So we don’t really need more bread right now…but then again, he did not buy seeded rye bread. I want rye bread. As soon as I finish writing this, I’m going to try out my new yeast and start a loaf in the machine. Hopefully, the problem the other day was just with dead yeast, and not with the machine. I really don’t want to have to buy a new machine at this time!
