They’re dropping like flies…
…from the Presidential race, that is.
Both Republican Rudy Giuliani and Democrat John Edwards have announced plans to drop out today. I am not surprised, as neither candidate was doing very well. I was wondering when they’d drop out, since hardly anyone seemed to be voting for them anywhere.
I wish that Mike Huckabee would drop out already. Maybe he will after Stupid Tuesday…many of those states wouldn’t vote for him. I know that he would NEVER win here in Massachusetts. If there was ANY fear of that at all, I’d go to the polls and vote in the Republican primary for John McCain, just to keep a vote away from Huckabee. But we’re a big-time blue state here, so I don’t think we have anything to worry about.
So it looks like I’ll be casting my vote for Hillary next Tuesday. I’m registered as *unenrolled*, which means that I’m not affiliated with any one party. I can vote for who I want to in any party in a primary. Hillary will probably win in Massachusetts anyway, but I’ll still go out and vote anyway. It’s that whole *bitching rights* thing, yanno?
My only beef with John Edwards was that his health care plan would REQUIRE all Americans to go to the doctor every year, whether they need to or not. Ummm…I don’t think so.
But he might be a good running mate for whoever gets the nom. Right now, it’s between a white woman from a northern state, and a black man from a Midwestern state. Okay, Hillary is really from Ohio, which is in the Midwest, but she’s been a New York Senator for ages now. Anyhoo, a white guy from the south might make for a good combination for either Clinton or Obama.
But I’d really LOVE to see whoever wins the Dem nom pick Bill Richardson as a running mate. When I took that little quizzie thing on MyFoxBoston.com, he came up as my number one candidate, with Hillary as number two. That quiz was pretty accurate, I think. Richardson dropped out ages ago, but let’s not write him off just yet. If he can get on a ticket as a VP and win, he has a great chance of being elected President in the future.
In any case, it will all pretty much be over after Stupid Tuesday.
