Trying something new…
Taking Prozac before bed, I have decided, is NOT such a good idea after all. Yes, it puts me to sleep, but I wake up all tired and icky-feeling. That’s probably why I felt so shitty yesterday. So I skipped it last night.
Today, I skipped the Ativan that I usually take first thing, took the Prozac instead. It’s been just about a week now since I got that scrip, it should be starting to work soon, so I can stop the Ativan completely. I’m going to see if I can go all day today without the Ativan. I don’t want to get hooked on the stuph, yanno?
So it’s been several hours now, and I’m not feeling sleepy at all. No dizziness, lightheadedness, fear of death, etc., either. Sweaty palms, yes, but that’s probably because it’s just too damned HOT! I think the air conditioner in this room is on its last legs, I need to convince Mike that we need to go out and buy a new one. This A/C is ancient and not very energy-efficient anyway. It’s also LOUD. Yep, it’s gotta go. This weekend, I hope!
I just want to get into a routine with this stuph that I can live with!

Please be very careful with the Prozac. It can help for a while and then make you feel worse than you did before you started taking it. I was on it for about 5 months and after the first three (that were WONDERFUL), I started having horrible side effects and felt completely out of control and almost suicidal. I am not saying this happens to everyone, but please be very aware of all changes to your mood and behavior while you are taking it. The doc took me off of it and then I went onto Wellbutrin, which was much more stable for me. Now I am on Cymbalta and I have to say that it’s really, really great with no side effects whatsoever.
Do some research on the Prozac, just so you are aware of the possible side effects. I wish you the best of luck with your meds. They can take a while to get them right, but when they are right, they are a godsend.

I will be careful. I’ve done a lot of reading about the drug, know all about the side effects. The doc I have seems to be very good, the type that actually listens to her patients. She told me to call her right away if I ever start having any serious side effects, not to wait to see if they go away.
Wellbutrin won’t work for me, because what I have is anxiety disorder, and not exactly depression. It’s caused by hormone fluctuations due to menopause. Wellbutrin supposedly doesn’t work for anxiety attacks, at least that is what I’ve read.
Right now, we’re just trying things out to find out what works. I’m feeling so much better now, the anxiety attacks were occurring almost daily, and it was scary. I thought I was dying, thus three trips to the ER within a two-week period, only to find nothing physically wrong.
I’ll be careful, I promise. Thanks!
