Vacation I wanted, vacation gotta get away!

Yep, we are going away for Labor Day weekend.  Leaving tomorrow and coming back on Sunday, Monday will be at home, what Mike calls *a lumpy day*.

We are going to Portland, Maine, for the purpose of seeing three Sea Dogs games.  The plan is to leave early, not just to avoid traffic jams, but also to get there in time for lunch at this place called The Great Lost Bear.  They seem to be the only place in Portland that has Shipyard’s new Smashing Pumpkin beer on tap, and I’m not leaving Portland until I get to try it!

I WILL be blogging over the weekend, thanks to my new netbook.  The Inn at St. John has free wireless internet, so I’m good to go!  And Mike stole got a USB mouse from his work for me…it came with his work computer, but he didn’t like it, so he bought his own that he liked better.  So no one was using this mouse, so he said he’d bring it home for me, and he did.  It works fine, and I’m happy to not have to use the laptop touchpad any longer!

Hell, I can even blog from The Great Lost Bear, they have WiFi there, according to their website.  Follow me on Twitter and find out, in real time, how much I like Smashing Pumpkin Ale.

We may need to stop at a light fixture store somewhere along the way. I’m tired of the bathroom light burning out all the time, and the fluorescent bulbs they have out there don’t quite fit in the fixture that’s there.  Mike’s not an electrician by any means, but he is knowledgeable enough to install a new fixture.  Ideally, I want one that also includes an electrical outlet, something our bathroom does not have now. Whoever wired this house is a moron!

I paid the bills today.  Mike is happy that the Sears bill is almost paid off, but not happy that we’ll have to use it again to buy a new washing machine.  But our washer is hanging on its last legs, and I vote to buy a new one BEFORE this one dies forever.  Mike fixed it a million times, but eventually, it won’t be fixable and needs to go to that great dead appliance place in the sky.

The alternative, of course, is Laundromat Hell.  This is why I made Mike keep the Sears card, even though they rape us up the ass with interest.  It came in handy when the dryer died last winter, and it will come in handy for a new washer.  And I suspect that the fridge will be the next ancient appliance to go.

But enough of that! We have a GORGEOUS weekend ahead of us, three baseball games, what more can we ask for?  One more sleep until we go!
