Weird dream…

May 05, 2008 User Imagechristine (Who am I?) has spoken

It’s been a while since I posted one. I haven’t remembered enough about a lot of them to have much to post, but I had one last night that I remember well enough. So I’m posting it.

One of the recurring themes of my dreams is school…it usually involves an adult me, somehow being forced to go to school, and trying to find ways to get out of it. This would be one of those dreams. Another theme is that I often go to familiar places, but in the dreams, they don’t look the same as they do in real life. Yup, in this dream, too.

In this dream, I was going to Catholic school, and had to wear a uniform. I really did go to Catholic school and wore a uniform, only in real life, mine was a maroon plaid, and the one in the dream was a green plaid. Anyhoo, I wanted to escape from school so that I could attend a New Hampshire Fisher Cats ball game…green happens to be one of the Fisher Cats’ colors, BTW.

So I escaped, and headed for the ballpark. On the way, I stopped at this really cheesy discount store, in the hope of buying a halfway decent pair of pants. I wanted to get rid of the uniform skirt before I got to the ballpark, because I was afraid that if I tried to buy a beer while wearing a Catholic school uniform, they’d refuse to sell it to me. I would also dispose of the tie, and buy a Fisher Cats T-shirt at the ballpark, and get rid of the white blouse with the Peter Pan collar.

But all of the pants the store had were hanging up really high, from the ceiling, and no one would help me get to them. There was no place else around to buy pants, and I couldn’t go home. So I went to the ballpark dressed as I was.

I found that I had lost my ticket, but some little kid had an extra one and gave it to me, so I took it.

The ballpark looked nothing like it really does. It was sort of an amalgamation of many minor league parks I’ve been to, including the very cheesy pro shop, that looked just like the one that the North Shore Spirit had before their recent demise. It even had a CLOSED sign on the outside.

And of course, when I went to buy a beer, I was refused because I was wearing a Catholic school uniform. But I was an ADULT, the age I am now, and I even had my ID. I had the driver’s license complete with the fugly criminal mug shot pic! But the beer lady kept saying no, and I think she was ready to have me hauled off to drug rehab or something, as I was just a trouble-making teen addict in her eyes.

That is really all I remember. I will probably never know WHY I keep dreaming about being forced to go to school, and trying to escape from it, but it keeps happening.

I wish it would stop.

I have a recurring dream where I go back to school but can’t find any of the classrooms. Then I find out there’s a huge project due in some subject I don’t even have the book for……my theory is these dreams happen when I’m feeling overwhelmed or inadequate in some way….(which is most of the time, LOL)
