Why would anyone WANT to do this?
Drink 24 ounces of beer in two seconds, that is.
I recently learned about this gizmo called the Bierstick, which allows one to do just that. But I ask…WHY?
Okay, I am biased here. I love beer, but I go in for the good stuff, mostly micros. I’ll drink a big-box beer like Sam Adams, as well as some imports, such as Harp and Bass.
But this is because I care about what it tastes like, I don’t swill it down just to get myself shitfaced, falling-down drunk. I’ll get a pint of Sam or a micro at a ball game, and it will last me for maybe 2-3 innings. Why spend the money on the good stuff, just to swill it down in two seconds? I prefer to sip and savor the good stuff, not suck it down ASAP to see how drunk I can get. Hell, I outgrew that shit 25 years ago!
And should anyone be encouraging people to drink this quickly? Alcohol poisoning, anyone? I remember a news story where this MIT freshman died from drinking too much; he was pledging for some fraternity.
This is just plain irresponsible marketing. It also doesn’t help that their website features scantily clad bimbos, just goes to show what their target audience is here.
For those of you who are parents of teens who might be drinking…if you see this thing in their rooms…be afraid. Be VERY afraid!
